Campaign Kickoff: A “Singing” Success

What a special night Paul and Anna Schnaitter hosted on April 9th to help officially launch my campaign. More than 50 people gathered to show their support and to, surprisingly, sing “Happy Birthday” to my twin sister, Angie, and me to celebrate our birthday. Your singing support set the tone for the type of fun, friend and family filled campaign I intend to run. THANK YOU!!!

I also want to thank everyone who donated to my campaign that night. Donations are a huge part of my campaign’s success. New campaign rules state that an individual can give up to $150 per candidate. I appreciate every dollar donated and am grateful for your support!

Fort Collins Community Programs

In April, I attended the 15th Annual Earth Day Celebration in Civic Center Park. It was great to see so many community members celebrating! I also participated in the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce’s “Civic Conversations” hosted by Horse and Dragon. Civic conversations are the cornerstone of our democracy, and I enjoyed participating in the program’s lively discussions.

Welcomed New Campaign Team Members!

I know getting elected will take a village and I am so thankful that former Associated Students of CSU Vice President Braxton Dietz has agreed to manage my campaign. I also feel fortunate to have met with 10 campaign supporters, four future volunteers and two potential postcard writers. Meeting with Constituents

I’m meeting every day with people living and working in District 5. Recently, I met with CSU groups, including the Political Review, a non-partisan CSU student organization, the Presidential Ambassadors, students who’ve been selected as ambassadors of the President’s Office, and ASCSU Cabinet members. Thank you for sharing what’s important to you! Additional constituent meetings and discussions include:

• A childcare design session with state and local community leaders

• The May Day Picnic that spotlighted the workforce and working families in our community

• My monthly Leadership Northern Colorado class to learn more about workforce, education and housing needs for the region

• A first generation graduate celebration at CSU. CONGRATULATIONS!

• Listening Sessions and Town Halls with federal, state and local representatives to stay informed on key issues and how they might impact our community

I also ran into tons of wildlife and friends on the Spring Creek Trail including Lauren Storeby, owner of Happy Trails Coffee, and her family during their monthly trash pick-up walk.

Supporting My Communty

On the trail, I consistently learn from organizations such as ISAAC, Community Empowerment Fund, College Access Navigators, College of Liberal Arts and the Colorado Humanities, that are out doing the heavy lifting. I am grateful for my relationships with our lawmakers and will continue to share our community's needs with them.

Last but not least, my husband, Kurt, bought me a bird feeder camera for my birthday, and let’s just say I am obsessed! Follow me on social media for more up close and personals with the wildlife that call our community home!
